Zach Agoff
Core Instructor
Dr. Agoff holds a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, M.A. from San Francisco State University, and a B.A. from Western Washington University – all in philosophy. His research focuses primarily on the philosophy of mind and emotions in the 16th and 17th centuries, especially the works of Teresa of Ávila and René Descartes. He also has additional research interests in the philosophy of science, philosophy of sport, and environmental philosophy.
Currently teaching at Stanford Online High School, UC Davis, and Yuba College, Dr. Agoff instructs courses such as Methodology of Science: Biology, Introduction to Philosophy, Critical Thinking, Introduction to Ethics, Introduction to Political Philosophy, and more.
Outside the classroom, Dr. Agoff is passionate about training in and teaching martial arts, with a background in Judo, Hapkido, Tang Soo Do, and kickboxing. Based in Auburn, California, he also enjoys spending as much time as possible outdoors with his wife and children.
