About Me

Hello! My name is Quinn, I am a senior at Stanford OHS, and have attended the school since the 8th grade. I am primarily interested in STEM, but I have a passion for philosophy and the intersection of the sciences and philosophy. My primary academic pursuit is physics, I joined the Theoretical Physics Club at the beginning of the 10th grade, and since then, I have spent much of my free time immersed in physics and math papers and textbooks. I also love to apply computational thinking to many of the problems I encounter in physics and math, and I am an avid user of the Wolfram Language. I have done research in theoretical physics and math using the Wolfram Language to explore the computational universe.

For my non-academic pursuits, I play guitar and classical piano. I play all styles of guitar, from heavy metal to jazz, and have performed in a wide range of groups and venues. When I'm not researching or playing music, I love to sit down and read. My favorite series of books is anything in the world of Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings." I aspire to continue to learn more about physics and math, and find ways to connect the humanities and STEM.

Why I Chose Stanford OHS

I was initially drawn to Stanford Online High School because I was dissatisfied with the quality of the science classes at my brick-and-mortar school. I wanted to be more challenged in the classroom and have the opportunity to learn from experts. I was only planning on enrolling as a single-course student for the eighth grade and take a science class, but as I read more of the course catalog, I was convinced to enter as a full-time student. From the depth of the physics and math curriculum to the vast range of philosophy courses, all taught by incredible professors, I knew that Stanford OHS was the place for me.
