2020 Stanford OHS Senior: Xenya Currie

What was your favorite Stanford OHS course and why?
For me, it would have to be a tie between OE020A (Critical Theory and Russian Literature) and OWIAS (Interdisciplinary Approaches to Sex and Sexuality). I took both courses during my junior year and absolutely adored them; I feel that I grew so much as a writer, thinker, student, and person. Both pushed me to think outside of the box and encouraged me to find joy in my academic pursuits. They both also introduced me to some of my new favorite texts/authors: "The Death of Ivan Ilyich," from Russian Literature, and Adrienne Rich, from OWIAS!

What is your career goal?
I would love to eventually get a Ph.D. in Classics and become a Classics professor! I've had such wonderful and transformative experiences with my instructors at Stanford OHS, and hopefully beyond and I would love to be able to provide that for future students.

What are some accomplishments you are most proud of?
Presenting a speech I wrote at the national level of the St. John Chrysostom Oratorical Festival.
