It’s said that journalism is the “first rough draft of history.” Come, contribute to this first draft of history, and develop your skills of journalistic writing in the OHS Observer homeroom. Join Rebecca Shields, Director of the OHS Writing and Tutoring Center for a weekly deep dive into the world of journalism. Learn the ins and outs of sourcing, the creation of narrative, and the processes of publishing news articles according to AP style--from arts and culture reviews to in-depth investigations. Along the way, you will participate in student journalism contests, consider the role of diversity in the newsroom and in news writing, study award-winning news writing, and reflect on your growth as a journalist. This homeroom meets on Fridays at 8:00 am Pacific Time. You do not need to enroll in this homeroom to be a member of the club.
